WRESTLING RECAP: Breaking down WWE SmackDown from 08/27/15

(www.PlaytimeCares.com) - The Summer Slam (SS) Pay Per View (PPV), by many accounts was a huge success. If you believe in the adage that controversy sales, then many would be correct about their assessment.  RAW was a phenomenal show, so I was waiting eagerly to see what the WWE had in store for the WWE Universe for this Thursday's episode.  Unfortunately, nothing extraordinary happened.  This was just a regular SmackDown. 

Some things I still need to happen in the WWE Universe:

1. Bring back the Cruiser Weight Division
2. Make all the matches mean something to some sort of belt or rivalry.  
3. Show more of the roster.  You guys recycle the same talent too much.
4. You may wish to consider bringing the Diva's division full circle and have them with Tag Title belts, lightweight belts, etc.
5. The Tag Team Division is starting to look better than the singles division.  Get more people graduated from NXT and get that division showcased more.

Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Braun Strowman (Wyatt family) comes to the ring

1. RAW recap of Braun Strowman beating up Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose
2. Luke Harper says Wyatt's truth will give you life
3. Wyatt said Sister Abigail gave Braun to him
4. Wyatt calls himself the new face of fear; Harper the new face of desolation; Strowman the new face of destruction
5. Roman Reigns music hits and Reigns and Dean Ambrose comes to the ring
6. Reigns ask for a fight, but Bray leaves the ring with the Wyatt family

• The Ascension VS The Dudley Boyz

1. "We want tables" chants
2. Crowd completely behind the Dudley Boyz
3. Decent action
4. Dudley Boyz played to the crowd the entire match
5. After a Dudley Death Drop (3D), Dudley Boyz gets a pin victory
6. Devon gets a table and the crowd erupts
7. The New Day comes out with 3 signs: (1) Save a table, Break a Dudley; (2) #GiveTablesAChance; (3) Booty
8. "New Day Sucks" chants 
9. The New Day says no more tables
10. Dudley Boyz puts a member of The Ascension through a table much to the crowd's delight
11. 7 out of 10 for this match

Summer Slam (SS) recap of Team Arrow (Neville and Stephen Amell - Star of the show "Arrow" VS Stardust and Cosmic King with Team Arrow eventually winning the match.

• Neville VS Kevin Owens

1. Kevin Owens dominates early
2. Kevin Owens uses a lot of strategy and defensive tactics every time Neville starts to get an advantage
3. A well placed chin kick on Neville sets him up for a pop-up powerbomb 
4. Kevin Owens gets a pin victory
5. 7 out of 10 for this match

The Bella Twins approaches Charlotte and Becky Lynch attempting to get them to turn against Paige, but to no avail.

• Charlotte/Becky Lynch VS The Bella Twins (Team B.A.D. on commentary)

1. Decent paced match
2. Charlotte injures her leg after a missed knee attempt
3. Charlotte is isolated for the duration of the match
4. Charlotte pulls of a roll up bridge pin for the win
5. Charlotte and Becky Lynch gets a pin victory
6. 7 out of 10 for the match

• Seth Rollins comes to the ring

1. Seth Rollins says that his transition from being legendary to immortal was ruined
2. RAW recap of Sting ruining Rollins' bronze statue unvailing
3. Seth says Sting is jealous of him
4. Seth says he is not afraid of Sting
5. Seth announces that at the Night of Champions Pay Per View, that there will be a match between him and Sting for the World Heavyweight Championship

Sheamus is interviewed and says Dean Ambrose better pay attention to him in their match tonight, or he will kick his head off his shoulders.

 

• Intercontinental Champion Ryback/Dolph Ziggler with Lana VS The Big Show/Rusev with Summer Rae

1. Big Show dominates early and often
2. Rusev keeps tagging himself into the match when Big Show is about to win the match
3. Big Show KO punches Ziggler and is tagged on the back by Rusev
4. Rusev tags himself into the match 1 too many times and Big Show gives a KO punch to Rusev then leaves the match
5. Ziggler drags himself across knocked out Rusev  
6. Ziggler and Ryback gets the pin victory
7. 7 out of 10 for the match

SS recap of the controversial ending of the match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker

RAW recap of Paul Heyman stating that The Undertaker has not seen the last of Lesnar and Brock destroying Bo Dallas in the ring

RAW recap of John Stewart explaining the he didn't want John Cena to tie the championship title held record that Ric Flair has, so he interfered in the match.  John Cena then delivered the AA to John Stewart. 

Roman Reigns tells Dean Ambrose to concentrate on his match Sheamus that is coming up next.  Reigns lets Ambrose know that he will look for the Wyatt Family.

• Dean Ambrose VS Sheamus

1. Ambrose comes out full of energy
2. It takes a while, but Sheamus gets the upper hand on Ambrose
3. Back and forth action
4. Sheamus concentrates his efforts on the knee of Ambrose
5. Ambrose gains the upper hand again but the light goes off
6. When the light comes back on, The Wyatt Family is surrounding the ring
7. A distracted Ambrose is kicked in the chin by Sheamus
8. Sheamus gets a pin victory
9. The Wyatt Family gets in the ring and Roman Reigns music comes on
10. Reigns comes to save Ambrose but Strowman, once again, knocks out Reigns 
11. The Wyatt Family stands over an unconscious Reigns and Ambrose
12. 7 out of 10 for the match
