NXT 429 on the WWE Network:

Verdict: This episode of NXT showcased 4 matches that proves NXT has a bright future for 2018.  These diverse matches are a good mixture of old and new talent, and also is a great buildup episode to the upcoming NXT Takeover Philadelphia.

Episode tidbits

→General Manager of NXT told Shayna Baszler that she would not be getting a championship match by attacking people from behind.

→The Velveteen Dream let Johnny Gargano know that he did not earn the spot he took from him to qualify for the championship tournament.  He also let Johnny know that The Dream does not think he will be able to beat Andrade "Cien" Almas at NXT Takeover Philadelphia.

→Street Profits asked William Regal to consider them for a title opportunity due to them being undefeated.  Regal agreed to a #1 contenders match against the Authors of Pain set for next week.

→Lars Sullivan stated that he wants to face Killian Dain.

→Undisputed Era jumped SAnitY before their scheduled title rematch which caused William Regal to announce they will defend their tag titles regardless.  Roderick Strong asked to fight them, then Aleister Black came out and said he will tag team with Strong.

→William Regal made the NXT Takeover Philadelphia match between Adam Cole and Aleister Black an extreme rules match.

→NXT Year End Awards 2017 categories are still open.  Go to Twitter to vote for your favorites of 2017.

Match 1: Shayna Baszler defeats Dakota Kai in brutal fashion! (Match Grade: C)

Shayna abused Kai in a quick match.  She stomped the left arm of Kai & caused the match to be stopped.  She choked Kai after winning the match and refused to release the choke until Ember Moon came out to confront Baszler.

Match 2: Kassisus Ohno beats Raul Mendoza in a spirited affair. (Match Grade: B-)

Styles makes for a good match and this David VS Goliath match was fun to watch.  No Cinderella ending this week!

Match 3: Lars Sullivan dominates Lio Rush (Match Grade: C+)

The crowd was pro-Rush, but that did not matter one bit!  Rush tried to use his speed to make up for lack of size, but Lars made quick work of him nonetheless.

Match 4: Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish survived their tag title bout against Roderick Strong and Aleister Black. (Match Grade: B-)

The tag champs quickly saw a fair match would cause them to lose their titles quickly...so just like any champion would do, they adjusted accordingly!  The numbers game caused Black to become unfocused and that caused his team to lose the match.  After the match, the Undisputed Era gave Black a thorough beatdown!
