WRESTLING RECAP: WWE NXT from 03/07/18

NXT 438 on the WWE Network:

Verdict: You had 3 matches and the start of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic (DRTTC).  All in all, a decent episode.

Episode tidbits: 

→Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic (DRTTC) started this week.  The winner of the tournament gets a title shot at NXT Takeover New Orleans.

→WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dune has just crossed paths with Adam Cole.  Championship match next week. 

→Lacey Evans vs Dakota Kai next week. 

→SAnitY vs Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss AND Street Profits vs Heavy Machinery next week to continue the first round of the DRTTC.

→Shayna Baszler calls out NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon again. 

→Tommaso Ciampa comes out to a chorus of boos for causing the end of the Johnny Gargano's NXT career.  This was the best nonverbal interaction with the crowd I have seen in ages.

Match 1: DRTTC Round 1: TM61 is in another chapter of the Authors of Pain book (Match Grade: C++)

The match started slowly but ended well.  TM61 did many great things in the match, but AOP is just too strong for them!

Match 2: Bianca Belair dominates Miss Drew Renee (Match Grade: C)

This was not a match...this was a warmup!  Too short of a match.  Get Bianca some real competition.

Match 3: Aleister Black escapes with a win over Killian Dain to secure an NXT Championship title shot at NXT Takeover New Orleans (Match Grade: C+)

Dain started the match with speed and aggression.  Black had to weather the storm before finally being able to muster up a victory.  Dain dominated this match.  Black mass out of nowhere saved Black.
