What is it that I am truly seeing these days with churches? I am not referencing those ridiculously huge and mutant pieces of fried chicken from the eating establishment bearing that similar name. Why am I seeing stories of the church not being...well...the CHURCH! I am reading stories of monetary abuse, and other types of abuses that I truly will not get into, way too often.
Today I am reading about a 92-year-old woman in Bainbridge, Georgia getting kicked out of her church. Not because this almost centenarian was representing thug life in the house of the Lord. She was sick for an extended period of time, and used her tithes money to buy medication. Before anyone says you are always suppose to give your tithes first, keep in mind that the church should be taking care of this member of 50 plus years (i.e. medication should have been bought by the church AFTER they checked up on an aging member).
Considering today is the first day of the NFL Preseason, I can only offer this out to that young lady:
- You are in Georgia
- You can't expect much from the land of the Atlanta Falcons
- This Saints' fan, and Who Dat from New Orleans, invites you to join the Who Dat Nation
- God wants you to be a Saint anyway correct? That is why you go to church!
It does not stop there!
I was reading that a Tampa resident was sent a collection notice from her church! They told her with all the fees associated with the church, she would have to pay 1 stack ($1000.00 U.S.)! If she wanted to be an upstanding and voting member of that church, then she had to ensure her fee was paid yearly! As one person placed on the church's Facebook page, they made that lady truly have to pay to pray!
Considering today is the first day of the NFL Preseason, I can only offer this out to that young lady as well:
- You are in Florida
- You can't expect much from the land of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- This Saints' fan, and Who Dat from New Orleans, invites you join the Who Dat Nation
- God wants you to be a Saint anyway correct? That is why you go to church!
I am concluding that some churches are losing sight of their true mission and purpose in the community. With that stated, here are some pictures that poke fun at the church.
Some may find these blasphemous and many other negative thoughts.
Remember: I think we need to lighten up and refocus our religious energy to get back on track with the real goals of our perspective religions.
