REEL FEEL MOVIE PREVIEW: "Magnificent Seven" - Is "magnificent" too strong of a word?

(www.PlayTimeCares.com) - I received an invite to an action, Western entitled "The Magnificent Seven" and immediately realized this was a remake of an old classic Western.  I saw that Denzel Washington was the main character, so I knew I wanted to see it.  The synopsis given as as follows:

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

Antoine Fuqua has worked with Denzel Washington before, in "Training Day," so I know they have good chemistry.  The trailer for the film was as follows:

That trailer was good enough for me.

Cutting straight to the point:  Magnificent Seven is a decent film.  It is not magnificent, but will hold your attention.  This movie is kind of long, but is truly engaging throughout.  Each individual of the "Seven" had a unique movie story line, so just trying to see that back story was cool enough and engaging enough to see this film. The IMAX showing added real pop to the film (you should see at least one Western in this format), and this film will potentially get you hooked on seeing  Western style films in IMAX format.  The theater clapped at the end of the show!

I did read that they will only have this film in IMAX format for 7 days, so if you plan on seeing it in that format, rush to the theaters!

MOVIE PREVIEW: "The BFG" - Is it a giant waste of time?

(www.PlayTimeCares.com) - I received an invite to see Disney's "The BFG" and saw the company that produced it, and automatically wanted to see the film.  They did not give a synopsis of the film, but they did give me a trailer to watch.

Interesting trailer...and quite pleasing to the eyes.  Well, I'll definitely take the time to see this film.

I will spare the expense:  This is a matinee showing.  Seeing this one the big screen, with premium sound, adds to the viewing experience.  I saw it in 3D, and I would recommend seeing it that way as well.

Why only a matinee showing?  Well, truthfully, I found the story line slow in the beginning, but the film rebounded solidly.  If you get the cheapest priced ticket, and put the cost of 3D on top of that, you may enjoy the purchase.

MOVIE PREVIEW: "Captain America: Civil War" - What side will you choose?

Last updated: May 4, 2016

(www.PlayTimeCares.com) - I received an invite to see Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" and I was all in from go.  One, this is a Marvel movie...and I'll see anything they put out.  Two, "Captain America: Winter Soldier" was one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life!  It worried me about seeing the new movie because "Winter Soldier" was just that good to whereas I did not want to be disappointed with the new film.  The synopsis given was:

After another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Wow...that plot sounds like a winner.  I decided that I did not want to see anything else dealing with this movie.  I refused to watch any trailer, or even the commercials!  I wanted to just see it with no expectations.  Just in case you wanted to see the trailer, here it is:

I will spare the expense:  This is a must see movie!  I saw it in 3D and IMAX 3D, and I recommend everyone sees it the exact same way.

If that is too pricey for you, then see it that way during the matinee showing so you can get the full feel of this film.  The movie was excellent.  I was surprised so many times in this film, so I am happy that I did not do any research or look at any trailers for the film.  This movie is excellent!  I still love "Captain America: Civil War" the best, but this movie is its own type of great!
